The PDC and the PDP Toolbox

Inservice permission, points requests, and license renewal

The Professional Development Council (PDC) consists of representatives of licensed personnel of Interlocal #637 and is charged with the responsibility for verifying completion of staff development activities and validating points for relicensure. These staff development activities are submitted the the PDC through the PDP Toolbox.  The PDP Toolbox is also used to request permission to attend inservice or staff development events.

Current members of the committee are Tracie Newberry, Kelli Hendrickson, Mary Ann Henry, Charlene Strong, Sheena Parks, Sara Ozbun, Jennifer Vaughn, and Amanda Blythe. Debbie Skahan serves as secretary to the committee and also as manager of the PDP Toolbox. Ex-officio committee member is Greg Kubler.

In addition to the point validation responsibilities, the PDC assists in designing and coordinating staff development activities for the Interlocal.

License renewal for virtually all of the Interlocal teaching professionals must be completed through the PDP Toolbox. Some important points that the PDC would like members to remember are:

1.   Neither the PDC nor the Interlocal keeps a file of evidence to document that teachers have        completed an activity. This is the responsibility of the teacher.

2.   Application or Impact points cannot be earned for a "Service to the Profession" activity

3.   Application of Knowledge must be conducted over a significant period of time in order to be       considered for 2x points

4.   Requests for points must be submitted within one calendar year of the date of the event.

5.   In general, college hours for license renewal must be submitted to and approved by the PDC.       There are some exceptions to this rule; teachers with questions should contact one of the       PDC members. One college credit is equivalent to 20 inservice points.

6.   Points must be earned during the life of the license being renewed.
